CONTENT MARKETING IS STORY TIME FOR GROWN UPS

The most simple, yet entirely accurate definition of content marketing is the sharing of videos, image and written articles to promote your business without blatantly asking people to spend money with you. It’s story time for grown ups.

Content marketing is more and more important given that growing numbers of audiences are blocking traditional ads with ad blockers and simply becoming a lot more savvy when it comes to choosing the brands they want to spend money with. Currently 11% of all internet users block ads. With this number set to rise, paid audiences will become smaller and ads will become more expensive. Also, in many industries users are completely bypassing searches on Google and going straight to Instagram to research the brands they’re considering adopting, so more and more the content you create on social media and in particular, Instagram, is becoming a billboard for your brand.

The reason content marketing is so effective is that humans love stories. We’ve been telling stories since the beginning of time and the rise and popularity of social media profiles that allow you to tell your story is testament to our love of story. Social Media levels the playing field and gives brands big and small access to the same formats and audiences at little to no cost (outside of advertising).

So if you can hone your storytelling skills to promote your business via content marketing, your existing and potential clients will find it easy to connect with you and want to become a part of your story... ie spend money with you.
